Safari Experience

Kwafubesi Tented Safari Camp is located in the heart of the spectacular Mabula Game Reserve, home to an astounding selection of large mammals including the Big Five, other predators such as Hyena and Jackal, and a variety of antelope from Red Hartebeest to Eland, Gemsbok to Blesbok. That’s not to mention the elusive cheetah, cheeky honey badger and the omnipresent crèches of warthogs that flit across one’s path during your game drive at Kwafubesi.

Game drives leave Kwafubesi Tented Safari Camp twice daily. An early morning drive ensures guests are out to experience the breathtaking sunrise over the savannah plains, with time to stop and stretch your legs and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Afternoon drives allow for a few hours of game viewing before enjoying sundowners in the beautiful golden light as dusk descends over the majestic Waterberg landscape.

Every safari experience is unique. Enjoy and delight in sightings as nature unfolds her secrets and as seasons change from deep green thickets and sparkling grasslands to the bushveld greys and yellows of autumn. Revel in warm blankets as the chill of winter brushes your cheeks before sunrise, and witness the rebirth of the bushveld following the first of the summer rains, which coincides with impala giving birth to their lambs.

For panoramic views across the beautiful Mabula Private Game Reserve, there’s nothing more special than heading up Dicks Hill. After negotiating the rocky track up, alight the game drive vehicle to marvel at the vistas below, where impala, zebra, giraffe, eland, buffalo, rhino and ostrich graze upon the expansive open grassland plains.

Few encounters are more spectacular than the sight of a herd of elephants, traipsing across the plains, or crashing through thick bush in their daily quest to reach the juiciest leaves on the trees. To witness hippos out on the water’s banks or submerged in one of the many dams, snorting up air and uttering their unmistakable bellows.
